A daily look into my crazy, wonderful world!

To do!

If you're at all like me, then you have about a million different ideas running through your head at any given moment and the priority of each idea is ever changing. One day organizing my kitchen is number one and then the next painting my daughter's dresser is.  Being new to the wonderful world of blogging, I have found SO much inspiration in other blogs and have so many projects burning in my brain, so I decided to list them out and prioritize my projects.

1. Paint my daughter's dresser - This project is a LONG time coming. My 3 year old daughter inherited a dresser that was mine and my sister's growing up and was my Aunt and Uncle's before that... It is by no means an antique or heirloom quality, it's just an old tan dresser in need of a major face lift! This project is number one because I have wanted to do it for so long and because the weather is just so stinking nice outside right now that spending a few hours outside on the weekend to do a little painting sounds just marvelous! Stay tuned this weekend, if it doesn't rain this might just get done Saturday!

2. Clean out my linen closet- This isn't something that should take too much time or effort just another area of the house that could use a good sorting through to see what we really still need and to evaluate the effectiveness of our space.  After cleaning out my bedroom closet and seeing just how much extra space can be created I have very high hopes for all of the closets in my house.

3. Finish my closet - This again, shouldn't take too much time or effort. The bulk of this project was cleaning, sorting, trashing and donating and all of those things have been done! All that's left is a little beautification in the way of buying some matching hangers, some nice storage bins and maybe moving a few things around.

4. Organize and line drawers and cabinets in Kitchen - I don't know why this is so far down the list other than maybe I just really don't want to do it.  When we moved into our house for some odd reason my husband unpacked our  my kitchen and things are not at all where I want them to be so I'm going to start over from scratch and before putting everything back I'm going to line all of my cabinets and drawers with some pretty adhesive liner I found at Target!

5. Buy a storage system for my son's room - Before we moved into our house we lived in a two bedroom apartment and my son's crib and all of his stuff was kept in our bedroom and honestly he didn't have a lot of toy's out because he was only a baby and what he did have were small, little, soft toys that all fit in a little storage bin. After moving into our house and getting his own room, pulling out some toys from storage that were his older sister's and his first birthday the boy is swimming in toys! He still has the same storage bin but all of his toys don't fit in there - by a long shot. My daughter has a cube storage system and I'm thinking something similar for Colton's room is the best way to go!

6. Paint our master bedroom and bath- I feel like a broken record saying "when we moved into our new house..." every 12 seconds but here we go again; when we moved into our new house we painted every other room in the house except our master bedroom and bath.  At the time the other rooms simply took priority and we liked the color in the master and it matched our current linens to boot! But the paint is really blotchy and streaky and I really just want to be able to pick out all new colors for the walls and for the bedding and for the bath! I'm probably the most excited for this project and I'm placing it further down the list so that I can save and really do what I want with the space not just what I can afford at the moment.

7. Organize the laundry room and the front hall closet - Another day, another closet. This closet has a ton of random shelves that I think might be coming out. I want to go through what is currently in it and decide what I want to go in it and then go from there! And the laundry room is just a mess! It might seem silly to have a closet/ laundry renovation at the end of the list but it's for a good reason: I want a new washer and dryer. I want a top of the crazy line, front loading, steam sanitizing, all the bells and whistles washer and dryer.  But as we all know wanting and having - not the same thing. So this may take 2 years but the day will come when I have saved up what most people use as a down payment on a car and I get to walk my happy little behind into Lowe's and pick out the Brangelina of washers and dryers. I cannot wait.

So there, roughly, is my list.  I know things will probably not go exactly in that order and there will probably be a bajillion smaller projects that make their way in-between these big ones but these are the biggest ones racing through my head today. I can't wait to cross off each and every one of them and I will blog about them as I go!

My Closet, Pt. 1

How do I convince you that after you see what you are about to see that I am not the world's messiest person ever? Well, hopefully, gaining the knowledge that we just moved into our house 2 months ago and our closet became the drop zone for any and everything that I didn't know what to do with... AND it has only taken me 2 months to realize it's cah-razy to continue living with this kind of a mess and bit the bullet and spent 11 hours yesterday cleaning, organizing and throwing away random (and I mean random) things from my closet, maybe you won't judge me to harshly...maybe? So ladies and gentlemen, without further adieu... my closet.

BEFORE:

YIKES! Also, let me point out that having 2 kids my choice of storage bin is obviously the beloved diaper box. Holy cow, I'm not a redneck - I swear it. Now I only feel okay about showing how awfully crazy, unorganized I WAS because of how happy I am with the result! A lot of my problem was the need to consolidate. I like to craft. So spread out amongst one diaper box, 4 big Hobby Lobby bags and my sewing box were my craft supplies. The need to organize and chuck quite a bit of my crafting stuff has been a LONG time coming and I'm so happy with the result!

Top drawer is scrapbook paper and decal stuff, middle drawer is fabric and ribbons, bottom drawer is paint, paint brushes, glue sticks, glue gun and all my craft scissors. See, I know exactly where everything is! I also cleaned out my  sewing box and it is nicely organized now too!

Cleaning out my closet made me realize something about myself. I'm a hoarder. Yes, I said it (like you had any doubts from the first picture) I'm a hoarder. I had way too hard of a time deciding what goes in the stay pile and what gets thrown out. Now, I'm just kidding about the hoarder thing - I'm just an extremely busy person who found throwing things where people can't see them way too appetizing! ^.^ I did get down to business and ended up breaking down every single cardboard (this includes diaper) box to recycle, filling up 3 very full bags of trash and 1 bag of clothes that is going to Good Will sometime this week! This is a good point to post a picture of my new and improved closet!!

It's crazy to me that our closet almost looks too EMPTY! I still have some "cute-ifying" to do and honestly the fact that our clothes aren't on matching hangers is driving me batty but for now this is our closet! I named the post part 1 because though I admittedly am a nut, I will probably buy the matching hangers and some more cute bins and storage stuff and I intend to share those picture whenever money and time allow for me to finish this project, but por la momento I couldn't be happier with the result! This was number one on my organizing hit- list and I am so proud of the result! I honestly have probably opened my closet no less than 10 times just to look at it and make sure I actually did organize it and that wasn't some crazy nightmare! Again don't judge my before too harshly - I'm extremely embarrassed, avert your eyes to the after! Also, I apologize for the picture quality I took all of these with my phone, I will try to get better pictures for any future blog posts. That's all for now! Ta-Ta!

All about me!

Hello and welcome to my blog! If you don't already know, I'm Allie. I'm married to my best friend, John, and together we have two pretty amazing youngins', Ailey and Colton.  I try not to take myself or life too seriously...I'm always joking around and sarcasm might as well be my middle name! I stay home all day with my little munchkins playing, reading, crafting, cleaning, organizing, cooking -- you know, fun stuff and thought keeping a blog might be a fun way to share ideas and gain new ones! I hope you enjoy!
